Big Pimping, Spending Gs – Affiliates and Me

Jay Z sings about “big pimping, spending G’s” and I’m pretty sure he’s talking about something different than credit card links.  Still, its hard not to read the roll of travel blogs out there some days and feel like everyone is pimping something and that everyone is spend spend spendy spend  spending in a grand fabulous way.

We here at Jetsetter’s Homestead sometimes feel a little bit left out of that world… because we aren’t pimping credit cards.  And we don’t plan to either.

Not that there is anything bad about it… blogs take time and for many, affiliates and advertising pay the bills.  Affiliates can pay well but sometimes in turn dictate editorial priorities – and we don’t consider ourselves to be the expert on your personal finances, so we just wouldn’t be comfortable telling you how to manage your credit line.

We just want your eyeballs – but also want to build our readership slowly and organically by blogging about the travel we do… and what we are doing when we aren’t traveling – which is NOT applying for credit cards, buying Vanilla anything, or trying to recycle other people’s content from message boards but instead boring stuff like organizing our kitchen drawers, looking for interesting tours for upcoming trips, sharing our interesting and weird travel experiences, and looking for unique things to share with our readers.

If you enjoy the content you see here, come back regularly, follow our feed, tell your friends, and follow us on social media.  And if you’d like to see something different, share with us in the comments!

So with that said, we DO have affiliate partnerships with a handful of vendors.  These are folks we have done business with and liked that we think you might like too.  They also aren’t the same vendors that everyone else seems to be using – and we are okay with that as well.  If you like reading this blog, you might also like these vendors – no obligation.  And if you do, we’d love it if you considered using our links to check them out.

And don’t worry…  we also aren’t out spending G’s in grand style either.  Except on a LOT of business travel… and on a couple good vacations a year… and on our Anthropologie and Container Store habits… and on tons and TONS of house repairs (which seem to never end when your house is 90 years old)!  So rest assured that if you do shop via our links, we aren’t using your money to charter private jets or stay in palaces.  Although we might spurge on one of these just to try it (and tell you all about it!)

You can find our affiliates page here – or via a tab on the toolbar – and rest assured, we will always disclose our full relationship with anyone we do business with because we are about transparency, not pimping.

And now we go back to what we do best – talking travel, talking life, and talking about how we keep those two things in balance!

    1. Thanks for the positive feedback! My editorial is largely dictated by one question – “would I want to read this?” I am glad to hear others are interested in the same topics! 🙂

    1. The good news is… if and when I ever do need a new credit card, I know I can read as much as I want about the subject from someone else, right? 😉
