Occasionally I stumble across ways of earning miles that are so easy that I wonder how I could have ever missed them. Thanks Again is one of those programs.
The website allows users to register credit cards and then receive miles any time a registered card is used at a participating merchant.
I found out about the program via a flyer left in my car from DFW Airport Valet (one of the participating merchants) last fall. I registered and promptly forgot about the program.
Today I logged in to discover I have earned 2,611 miles for roughly $2,400 in transactions including airport parking, an Uber ride, several restaurant or bar invoices at airports, newstand purchases, and a chair massage.
While this is not the fastest way to earning a free ticket, it is an easy bonus for things I’m already spending money on anyway! If I really want to up my game, I can spend $1,000 in any one calendar quarter and I can then earn an additional 5,000 miles (or 10,000 points) as a bonus.
The Thanks Again website has a partner locator tool that allows participants to search for participating vendors in advance – so you can check not only your home airport but those you may be passing through or near.
One interesting discovery is that SpaFinder gift certificates purchased at spafinder.com earn points as well. As those are accepted at many locations worldwide, this could be a great way to earn miles while getting pampered on vacation. (I even discovered two day spas I frequent locally on the list!)
Miles can be earned with Thanks Again on top of any other miles or points that the registered credit card may offer – that’s the ultimate double dip! The following travel programs participate:
- AeroMexico Club Premier®
- Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan™
- American AAdvantage®
- Delta SkyMiles®
- Frontier EarlyReturns®
- Hilton HHonors®
- JetBlue TrueBlue®
- Southwest Rapid Rewards®
- United MileagePlus®
- US Airways Dividend Miles®
- VOILÀ Hotel Rewards®
- Wyndham Rewards®
Earned miles can take 6 to 8 weeks to post. Transactions must be posted as credit card transactions (not PIN or debit transactions) in order to qualify.
While Thanks Again is probably not a sound mileage earning strategy as a stand-alone program, it’s a great passive supplement to other means of accruing miles. he extra miles or points are a nice bonus for transactions that may already be taking place while traveling!
