Friends of felines, rejoice.
New York City may be getting a permanent cat café if crowdfunding plans are successful, according to this piece from The Gothamist.
Little Lions seeks to be one part tea house, one part cat sanctuary where cat lovers can sip their favorite beverage while being rubbed on by resident kitties.
The idea originates from London-based Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium and has been replicated in many cities around the globe according a Wikipedia page on cat cafes.
Me… I likely will pass. If I want to sip tea which having a strange feline rub on me, I can walk to visit the elderly cat-hoarding neighbors on either side of me… or just sit on my front porch long enough for the neighborhood strays to wander by. But only after I’ve taken my allergy medicine.
But if this is your cup of tea, you can help make it happen by visiting their crowdfunding page. A $100 contribution will get you 4 prepaid visits each with a pot of tea and one hour of feline snuggle time. For $1,000, you can name one of the cats.
It sounds like a purrfect investment for any NYC-bound cat lover.
