Welcome to the Round Up – our recurring compilation of the interesting, intriguing, and just plain weird things we find on the internet.

  • French Table Etiquette – If you want to look like a local, it helps to dine like a local.  What you learned at home might not be “proper” in Paris!  My friend Meg Zimbeck (editor of the “must bookmark” travel site Paris in Mouth) shared this essential guide.  Read up before your next trip and feel more Parisian.  (French Today)
  • Heroin Overdose Inflight – This op-ed was shared on a flight crew website yesterday.  It isn’t newsworthy on its own but its worth a read nonetheless because it could happen on a flight you are on.  In my “other” life, I work in healthcare strategic planning.  Almost every community I work in is challenged by widespread opioid addiction.  Because the socioeconomic group affected by these issues has changed, the likelihood that a passenger in flight may overdose is very real.  Emergency responders on the ground now commonly carry Narcan for overdoses.  There is some discussion whether it should be carried inflight too. (Lancaster Online)
  • Scary Reason Why Airplanes Dim Lights Inflight – Try not to think about this the next time the lights go down on your next flight.  (MSN)
  • 20 Longest Flight Routes Flown By US Airlines – Here is a quick pop quiz about flight routings.  How many of these can you name without looking at the list?  And how many have you been on?  I’ve flown about half of these!  (USA Today)
